What kind of tax returns does Wardwell Tax Service (Wtax) prepare? 

Wtax prepares individual returns with federal, state (any applicable states), and local (any applicable). Local returns may include city, county, township and/or municipality. 

 

What types of income does Wtax report on? 

Wardwell Tax Service prepares income tax returns for individuals with income sources including W-2, self-employment, pension/retirement/Social Security, stocks/investments, rental income real estate, etc.

 

I am self-employed. Do I need a CPA to prepare my returns?

That depends. Wardwell Tax Service is qualified to assist sole proprietors and LLCs that are considered to be a single entity LLC. If you are part of a multi-member LLC, partnership, corporation, or a non-profit then you will need a CPA or Enrolled Agent to assist you with your in business income tax returns. In this example, Wtax can assist with your individual (personal) income tax returns.

  

I received a notice from the tax authority (e.g. federal, state, local, etc.). Can Wtax help me?

That depends. Please contact us ASAP to discuss the details of this notice or letter. If we cannot help, we can refer you to someone who can assist. Don't wait. Failure to respond promptly to the notice can lead to additional tax, penalties, fines and interest charges.

FYI-Wtax clients who file their returns through our service qualify for our tax audit resolution service at no additional charge should they receive this type of notice.

 

I am not sure if my previous returns were done correctly. Can Wtax review my previous returns?

Wardwell Tax Service makes it a standard practice to review all new client's previous year return. If you have any concerns, we can review any of your previous returns. 

 

I typically prepare my own tax returns. Why should I hire someone like Wardwell Tax Service to prepare them?

While many people prepare their own returns it is not advisable for some indivduals. There are two primary considerations. Changes (complications) with your tax situations and changes to the tax law. While there are always changes to tax law there were some major changes in 2025 which will affect 2025 and after. Make sure your tax preparer is taking professional continuing education courses annually in tax law, tax updates and ethics.

 

Can I work with the tax preparer or will I have to work with an administration representative?

At Wtax you will speak only with the proprietor/tax preparer.

 

How is the tax preparer at Wardwell Tax able to communicate with all tax clients?

We are a small firm. Most firms have a goal to grow large and grow quickly. They hire staff to support each of the tax preparers. Wtax has gown organically and steadily over the years, only taking on the additional clients that the proprietor can support, but no more. 

 

I seem owe income taxes after filing each year? Can Wardwell Tax Service help me fix this?

Yes. There could be many reasons but the most common is that you are not having enough income taxes withheld from your paycheck. It can easily happen if you are self employed, have mulitple jobs, or have other sources of income that are not withholding tax. This is usually a math problem that can be corrected.

 

Is Wardwell Tax Service able to file for PA property tax/rent rebate? 

Yes. Wtax can prepare this annual return. Since this return relioes on reporting of income it is ideal to prepare this as part of the income tax filings.
