about

Donald Wardwell is the proprietor of Wardwell Tax Service, LLC. He is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a baccalaureate degree.

Don started his tax career in the fall of 2010 as a volunteer tax preparer with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), an Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This  community outreach program is initially sponsored by the American Red Crosss (ARC) of Lancaster and is now sponsored by United Way of Lancaster (UWL).

This provided a formal training through the IRS combined in a high volume, on-demand, client-centric environment. After several years of volunteering as an income tax preparer, Don was promoted to supervise a large team of volunteer income tax preparers at the newest UW VITA site, Millersville University (MU).

By November 2014, he launched his own professional income tax preparation business with a few clients as a part-time seasonal business called, Donald J. Wardwell, income tax preparer.

In early August 2025, Wardwell Tax Service, LLC (aka Wtax) was re-launched as a predominantly full-time, year-round business. The firm continues to grow organically by client referrals and word-of-mouth recommendations.

Don meets and exceeds all Internal Revenue Service regulatory requiments including active PTIN, EFIN, CAF, and EIN. Each year he exceeds the minimum requirement of annual continuing education (CE).

He participates in the IRS Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP). While not required by the IRS, it is designed for professional tax preparers who are not Enrolled Agents (EA) or Certified Publiuc Accountants (CPA). Don regularlycompletes the Annual Tax Refresher Course (AFTR) and passes all required exams required by the IRS. As a result, Don has achieved the AFSP designation annually since 2014.

This annual achievement confirms a committment to maintaining highest level of education and competency levels. As a result, Don is able to represent his tax clients before the IRS.
